WHAT IS TABULAR ALUMINA
Tabular alumina (tabular corundum) is a white powder or group of particles made of pure Alumina corundum. In modern shaft kilns, we sinter this crystalline form of alpha alumina (previously palletized to balls of 25 mm in diameter) until it fully contracts at around 1750ºC, creating this thick, high-density crystal with 99.2% of alpha AI2O3 in its structure. Then we crush it, mill it, and sieve it to standard sizes (before this process it’s relatively big: 50 – 200 µm).
We have two white tabular alumina production lines through which we stock up with 50000 tons of it —each ton is as good as the previous one, meeting and even beating national standards when it comes to performance.

What is a tabular alumina?
Tabular alumina is a crystalline form of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) that is characterized by its high temperature resistance and high mechanical strength. It is produced by sintering or calcining high-purity alumina at very high temperatures, typically above 1900°C (3450°F). Tabular alumina has a uniform, well-defined crystal structure with a high density and low porosity, making it suitable for applications requiring thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance, such as in refractory materials, ceramics, and foundry applications.
What is the application of tabular alumina?
Tabular alumina is widely used in refractory materials for lining furnaces and kilns due to its exceptional thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance. It also serves as a key raw material in advanced ceramics, foundry applications, high-performance abrasives, and other industrial uses requiring high temperature stability and mechanical strength.
What is the density of tabular alumina?
The density of tabular alumina typically ranges from 3.5 to 3.9 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³), depending on its grade and specific manufacturing process.
What are the properties of tabular alumina?
Tabular alumina is prized for its high temperature stability up to 1900°C, exceptional mechanical strength, low porosity, chemical inertness against acids and alkalis, uniform crystal structure for consistent performance, and good abrasion resistance. These properties make it ideal for refractory linings, ceramics, abrasives, and applications requiring durability in harsh conditions.
How is tabular alumina made?
Tabular alumina is made from high-purity alumina through a process of sintering or calcination at temperatures above 1900°C. This process transforms alumina aggregates into tabular-shaped crystals with properties including high temperature stability, strong mechanical strength, low porosity, and chemical inertness. The final product is crushed, graded by particle size, and used in industries requiring durable materials for high-temperature and abrasive environments.
What is the HS code for tabular alumina?
Tabular alumina is categorized under HS code 2818.20.0000, used internationally for trade classification of this alumina product.
alumina corundum application
We distribute white tabular alumina to our customers in the steel, foundry, glass, ceramic, cement, petrochemical, ceramic, cement, and refractory industries. With alumina corundum, they build and export bricks, sliding gates, porous plugs for steel ladles, furniture for ceramic kilns, filters in metal production, and others. white tabular alumina is a recrystallized sintered high density alpha alumina. It is composed of large (50-200 µm), flat shaped Alumina corundum crystals (tabular corundum).- Abrasive Industry

In some of these applications, white tabular alumina (Alumina corundum) displaces fused alumina and white fused alumina because of its low porosity, thermal shock endurance, mechanical strength, anti-corrosive properties, and chemical inertness.- High corrosion resistance
- High thermal shock stability,
- Low porosity
- High mechanical strength
- Chemically inert
- High density
